Some factors affecting health are due to individual choices, such as smoking, excessive intake of alcohol, unhealthy eating habits, inadequate sleep, etc. 
Individuals need to exterminate such habits that lead to an unhealthy lifestyle. 

 

Different Approaches to Maintain A Good Health

There are many different approaches to maintaining good health. However, it should be kept in mind that what works for one person may not work for another. 
Here are a few general tips for maintaining good health:

1. A Balanced Diet
If you desire to have a healthy life, intake of a balanced diet that includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins is extremely important. Avoid processed foods and sugary drinks. Adults should eat a combination of food that should have at least five portions (400g) of fruit and vegetables per day. Eating a healthy balanced diet reduces the risk of malnourishment and non-communicable diseases like diabetes, heart strokes, cancer, etc.

 

2. Exercise Regularly 
Giving some minutes to perform physical exercise daily is the most important thing you do to have a perfectly healthy life. Daily exercise strengthens the heart and improves blood circulation, which also raises the oxygen level in your body. Doing exercise regularly has numerous benefits and can help you maintain a healthy weight, improve your mood, and reduce the risk of chronic illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes.

 

3. Get Enough Sleep

When you do not get adequate sleep at the proper time, you may feel foggy, slow to react, have mood swings, and be dizzy the whole day. Sleep deprivation is the most unhealthy habit by which every 7 out of 10 people are locked up. Getting enough sleep helps in smooth regulation of our appetite hormones, reducing the risk of heart diseases, kidney diseases, diabetes, controlling blood pressure, etc. Proper sleep is something that affects our emotions and behaviors. Adults should aim for 7–9 hours of sleep per night, while children and teenagers may need more.

4. Practice Stress Management Techniques 

Stress is an involuntary physical, mental and emotional response to a challenging activity. Practicing stress management techniques, such as deep breathing, meditation, or yoga. Chronic stress can have negative effects on your physical and mental health.

 

5. Drinking Plenty of Water

Drinking sufficient water is essential to metabolize stored fat into energy. You should stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. About 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day for men and about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women should be consumed.

 

6. Protect your Skin 

Skin plays an important role in protecting your skin from dangerous viruses, bacteria, and UV rays. You should yourself from the sun by using sunscreen, wearing protective clothing, and seeking shade when the sun is strongest.

 

7. Get Vaccinated 

Stay up to date on vaccinations to protect yourself and others from preventable diseases. Vaccination makes our immune system strong and protects us from various diseases. Vaccination lowers the risk of getting prone to infectious and dangerous diseases.
 

8. Practice Good Hygiene

Making some healthy hygiene habits such as washing your hands frequently and covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze lowers the risk of getting attacked by bacteria that are harmful to your immune system.

 

9. Quitting Harmful Drugs 

If you use tobacco products or are addicted to alcohol, consider quitting it to improve your health and reduce your risk of tobacco-related diseases.

 

10. Have a Regular Health Check Up

Regular health check up helps to diagnose a disease before it causes serious harm to your health. See a healthcare provider regularly for check-ups and screenings to help identify and treat any health issues early on.
